🛡️ Camp Horizon Safety First Campaign

SAFETY FIRST — in all we do.

Every activity, cabin group, and decision begins with ensuring that campers are safe, supported, and cared for.
Now we are extending this core philosophy beyond programming and into the physical layout and infrastructure of camp.

The Safety First Campaign ensures that our grounds, entrances, equipment, and public-facing spaces reflect the same level of intentional safety our team practices every day.
It’s time for the environment of camp to fully match the heart of camp.

🧭 Why This Campaign Matters

For decades, Camp Horizon has been known for:
• Caring staff
• High-quality programming
• Strong supervision practices
• A deeply held value of safety

But several of our physical systems have not kept pace with our program excellence. This campaign closes that gap.

🛡️ Three Projects That Turn “Safety First” Into Reality

1️⃣ Secure Camp Entrance & Automatic Gate — $200,000

Safety Goal: Control traffic flow and regulate who enters camp.
A redesigned stone-and-metal entrance paired with an automatic gate will create a professional, secure, and clearly defined arrival point. This allows us to fully protect the sacred space where children learn, grow, and encounter Christ.

2️⃣ Jumping Pillow Shade Structure — $50,000

Safety Goal: Reduce heat exposure and prevent heat-related injuries.
A permanent shade structure will dramatically lower surface temperatures, extend the life of the pillow, and improve camper comfort during peak summer heat.

3️⃣ North Woods Covered Pole Barn — $100,000

Safety Goal: Remove hazards and keep camper areas clear.
A 80' x 30' x 14' three-sided pole barn will relocate heavy machinery, equipment, and unsightly items away from high-traffic zones, creating safer walking paths and cleaner visual lines throughout camp.

🧠 Philosophical Connection

Safety is not just a rule at Camp Horizon — it is a culture.
This campaign translates that culture into visible, enduring infrastructure:

• Safer arrival
• Safer play
• Safer grounds
• Safer ministry

This is more than construction.
This is the physical expression of who we are.

Help us build a campus that looks like the camp we already are — a camp where safety isn’t just taught, it’s built.
