Camper Check-In & Check-Out
We know arrival day can feel exciting, busy, and sometimes a little emotional for both campers and parents. Our goal at Camp Horizon is to make the check-in and check-out process smooth, welcoming, and stress-free for everyone.
Camper Check-In
Arrival Time
Check-in begins at 10:00 AM for all camps at the Welcome Center
(excluding camps that begin on Sundays)
Please do not arrive significantly early, as staff may still be preparing cabins and activity areas for campers.
What Happens During Check-In?
During check-in, families will:
Sign in and confirm registration information
Review any final paperwork
Turn in camper medications to our health staff
Verify emergency contact information
Ask any last-minute questions
After check-in, families are welcome to:
Walk with their camper to meet counselors
Help campers get settled into cabins
Make beds and organize belongings
Take pictures and say goodbye at their own pace
Our staff will also be available to help carry:
Suitcases
Bedding
Trunks
Sleeping bags
Other camper belongings
We know move-in can be a lot, and we are happy to help.
Campers Arriving with Churches or Carpools
Many campers arrive with:
Church groups
Friends
Carpools
Grandparents or relatives
That is completely normal at Camp Horizon.
We have plenty of trained staff available to:
Help campers unload belongings
Escort campers to cabins
Introduce them to counselors and cabinmates
Help first-time campers feel comfortable and welcomed
Even if a parent is not present at drop-off, our staff works hard to make sure every camper feels supported from the moment they arrive.
Medication Drop-Off
All medications must be checked in with camp staff during arrival.
Please:
Keep medications in original containers
Clearly label all medications
Include instructions for dosage and timing
Do not pack medications inside camper luggage
Additional medication instructions will be provided before camp.
Saying Goodbye
We know drop-off emotions can vary from camper to camper.
Some campers run to their cabin without looking back. Others may feel nervous or emotional at first — especially first-time or younger campers.
Our staff are trained to help campers:
Meet new friends
Get involved quickly
Feel included and supported
Build confidence and independence
A confident, encouraging goodbye from parents often helps campers transition more smoothly into camp life.
Camper Check-Out
Closing Ceremony
Families are invited to attend our Closing Ceremony at 10:00 AM in the Sanctuary
(approximately 45 minutes)
The Closing Ceremony is a special part of camp where campers:
Sing songs
Share memories
Celebrate the week together
Reflect on what they experienced at camp
Parents and families are encouraged to attend if possible.
After the Ceremony
Following Closing Ceremony, families will:
Sign out their camper
Pick up medications from camp staff
Collect luggage and belongings from cabins
Check Lost & Found for missing items
Our staff will once again be available to help transport luggage and belongings if needed.
Camp Store & Snacks
The Welcome Center Store will be open during check-out for:
Camp Horizon souvenirs
T-shirts and apparel
Snacks and drinks
Water bottles and other camp items
Many campers enjoy one last stop at the store before heading home.
Important Check-Out Information
For camper safety:
