This October, a special event is being planned for Horizon - the first ever homecoming event for all Horizon alumni, family and friends! For 59 years, Horizon has been a place of retreat, renewal, spiritual growth and joy for thousands and thousands of people. This event is intended to bring together people who love Horizon and have been impacted in some way through this sacred place.
This event is open to anyone who has ever been a camper, guest or staff at Horizon and their family and friends and anyone else who wants to come! Come for this event and enjoy all of the fun activities we have planned:
- Battle of the Bands (open to all praise bands)*
- Church fundraising booths**
- Hayrack rides
- Hiking
- Horizon History and picture display
- Keynote speaker - Dr. Bruce Blake
- Cookout
- Bonfire
- Games and crafts for kids
- Farmer's market silent auction
- Much, much more!
Mark your calendar today for Horizon Homecoming on October 14, 2006. The event will begin at 1:00 pm and go through the evening. Folks are welcome to come and go throughout the afternoon and evening. Plan to bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating during the cookout and evening events.
*Battle of the Bands
Hey praise bands! This event is for YOU! Come to Horizon's Homecoming on October 14th and be a part of the a Battle of the Praise Bands! Praise bands will play throughout the afternoon in a friendly, Christian competition. The winning band will have the honor of playing again in the evening before the keynote speaker. Winning band will be determined by money jars (the band who has the most money in their designated jar at the end of the competition will be the winner). This event is for fun and a great opportunity to praise God at Horizon's beautiful setting.

**Church Group Fundraisers
Youth Leaders, UMWs, Pastors, Mission Groups and anyone else!!! Do we have an oportunity for you! Horizon is inviting all UM groups to hold a fundraiser to raise money for your organization at our fall Homecoming on October 14th. Some ideas include, but are not limited to: Craft booths Face Painting Bobbing for apples Pumpkin sales Art booths Farmer's market produce Petting Zoo Dunk tank (get your conference pastors and district superintendents to sit it!) Bake sales Use your imagination!
